'The Jacket' Winter 2007

Based on the jackets worn by band members of 'My Chemical Romance' (MCR) : See the link on the blog : I started with an old East German biege coloured army jacket, stripped off the 4 front pockets, entirely remodelled the collar, extended the cuffs by about 80mm (those East Germans must have had short arms!!!), dyed it black (4 times to ensure it was dark enough, and oooooh what an experience mixing dye and boiling it up in a pot on the stove ... great fun) ... then the 5mm wide braid was sewn around the outer edge, 10mm braid on the front in 8 double rows on each side, toggles sewn in with a black backing to fix the front together, and finally 32 ex-Royal New Zealand Artillery buttons on the front, 8 more on each sleeve, 1 on each shoulder, and wow after a mere 3 months work occassionally in the evenings, this is the end result ...
